What is Mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment used to nourish, hydrate, and rejuvenate the skin by stimulating collagen and elastin production. It is the perfect revitalising treatment for both the face and body.
A mesotherapy procedure is often used for patients who have concerns about dull, dehydrated skin that is losing its tone and radiance or for early signs of ageing.
At BLU Clinics, we tailor our mesotherapy treatments according to each patient, considering their needs, concerns and age. We have various mesotherapy solutions in London that allow us to create a bespoke cocktail of potent minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, growth factors, and hyaluronic acid to be injected directly into the layer of the skin where it is most needed. This triggers the production of new collagen and elastin by existing cells and leaves the skin hydrated, toned, radiant, and gives the appearance of healthy young skin.
Face
Collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid are the main building blocks of the skin and are responsible for the radiant, youthful look that we have at a younger age. Collagen is produced by fibroblast cells in the skin and gradually decreases with age. This decrease is further exacerbated by our modern lifestyle, alcohol consumption, active/passive smoking, diet, and other environmental factors. The bespoke personalised cocktail of vitamins, minerals, growth factors, antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid can stimulate the fibroblast cells in the skin to increase their collagen production and help reduce the loss of elasticity, epidermal atrophy, and creation of fine line and wrinkles.
Pigmentation
Pigmentation is a growing concern across all age groups. Regular sun exposure, UVV light, pregnancy, hormonal imbalance can contribute to the appearance of stubborn pigmentation on the face.
At BLU Clinics, we always start with an initial consultation with a qualified doctor who can establish the cause of the pigmentation and the type of pigmentation. This allows us to choose the proper Mesotherapy treatment for you. One of the techniques we use is mesotherapy application on the affected areas. The results in our patients have been outstanding. Mesotherapy mainly addresses the issue of recurring pigmentation. We sometimes recommend chemical peels or laser treatments in combination with Mesotherapy.
Body
The combinations of nutrients for body treatment vary from the one for the face, and they are tailored according to the area treated and the primary concern. For stubborn fat, we recommend combination treatment with fat dissolving injections for best long-standing results. While with cellulite concerns, we can use Mesotherapy alone, which improves vascularisation, lymphatic action, superficial fat and hydrates, tones, and tightens the skin helping to reduce orange peel skin.
Hair Rejuvenation
Hair mesotherapy contains valuable nutrients that help to increase the microcirculation in the scalp. The increase of circulation along with the blend of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients improves the health of existing hair follicles and promotes hair growth creating a thicker, fuller and shinier look.

Frequently Asked Questions
HOW TO DECIDE WHICH MESOTHERAPY TREATMENT IS THE RIGHT ONE?
Each patient will have a pre-treatment consultation, ideally in person, allowing us to understand their concerns and expectations. We will provide them with a treatment plan depending on the area they would like to treat to achieve the best results.
We always recommend a course of Mesotherapy which then is followed by maintenance courses.
HOW EFFECTIVE IS MESOTHERAPY?
There is plenty of evidence that shows positive results from mesotherapy treatments for facial rejuvenation, improving hair health and body treatments addressing stubborn fat, cellulite and tone improvement.
However, this is not an instant treatment where you will see an immediate difference as you do with dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle-treatments injections.
Results vary from patient to patient, and the main factor contributing to good results is patience and persistence.
You will see the best results after the 3rd or 4th administration. Results are visible for months, and regular top-ups will sustain this.
Mesotherapy, similarly to healthy eating and exercise, is both a short-term and long-term investment. Short-term benefits of having a mesotherapy treatment are the moderate instant improvement of fine lines, dehydration and a glow to the dull-looking skin. The most significant long-term benefit from Mesotherapy is delaying ageing signs by supporting healthy-looking youthful skin.
WHAT IS MESOTHERAPY USED FOR?
Mesotherapy can be used to treat seven main areas of the body, which are:
– Fine lines and wrinkles
– Dry skin
– Loss of elasticity of the skin
– Pigmentations
– Cellulite
– Stubborn fat
– Hair rejuvenation – improve texture, growth and shine
– Hair Loss – Helps with mild age-related or seasonal hair loss
– Post chemo treatment to help hair recover faster and increase the rate of growth
HOW MANY MESOTHERAPY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?
Results of Mesotherapy strongly correlate with the number of treatments done. The course length varies from patient to patient and depends on the type of mesotherapy treatment, the skin condition, and the primary concerns addressed.
On average, a patient will need between 4 to 6 treatments in the initial course, which will be followed up by a maintenance course which would be between 1 treatment per month to 1 treatment every three to four months.
I USE FACE CREAMS. DO I STILL NEED MESOTHERAPY?
You will still benefit from mesotherapy treatments even if you use face creams. The skin is the largest organ in our body, and its primary function is to act as a barrier to protect us from potentially harmful external agents. For skincare to be effective, the ingredients need to penetrate the stratum corneum barrier and enter into the inner surface of the skin called the dermis. Scientific studies have shown that even the most sophisticated facial creams using the newest technology can only penetrate the lower epidermis layer (outermost layer of the skin).
The exception of the above is retinoid-based creams (vitamin A-based creams), where there is increasing evidence that they can penetrate to the dermis and play a direct role in the anti-ageing process. The downsides of those are that some patients find their skin very dehydrated with increased use, and the risk of pigmentations, especially in the summer months. The application of high SPF and rich skincare is a must but may not be enough.
That is not to say that skincare has no place in our daily routine. Good cosmetic creams can seal the skin and create hydrating effects by nourishing the skin barrier and indirectly help keep the dermis healthier and happier. Our team at BLU Clinics does not believe that the most expensive skin cosmetics are necessary the best. We have carefully selected the brands that we recommend to our patients, always considering their needs and budget.
