PRP Therapy

WHAT IS PRP THERAPY?

Say hello to a new skin with our revolutionary Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, which uses innovative injections to help rejuvenate and tighten your skin.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy or also known as the “vampire facial”, is a smart technique that utilizes your own blood to stimulate the creation of new collagen and elastin. This cutting-edge rejuvenating therapy goes above and beyond other anti-aging treatments by assisting in the smoothing out of classic signs of aging on the face and hands.

PRP is also an excellent treatment option for hair loss and hair strengthening, since it is intended to stimulate growth and may help you get healthier, thicker hair.

At BLU Clinics, Platelet Rich Plasma treatments are always performed by trained and qualified specialists.

THE EXPERIENCE

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy typically takes between 30 and 90 minutes depending on the area treated and does not require general anaesthesia. PRP can be applied manually or with a special MesoGun. A topical anaesthetic cream may be used for sensitive areas or if patients are unable to tolerate the slight discomfort.

Blood is drawn from your arm during the procedure and spun in a spinner to separate red blood cells from platelets and plasma containing all growth factors. Following that, the ‘platelet-rich’ plasma is injected into the treated areas of the face, hands, or scalp.

PRP Therapy Recovery Time

Since PRP Therapy is a non-surgical procedure, recovery time is short. Following the treatment, some patients may anticipate some bruising, redness, and swelling in the treated region, which mostly resolve in 24hrs to 48hrs. You will be instructed to not touch the treated area and to avoid extended exposure to sunshine, intense exercise, saunas, hot baths, and excessive alcohol consumption for 24 hours. These may all contribute to swelling and bruising.

Typically, a course of one to three PRP treatments is suggested, but some patients may need more to achieve optimal results. Results can last up to 1-2 years. Ideally, maintenance treatments are advised every 6 to 12 months depending on the area treated and personal concerns.

How Does PRP Work?

Our blood contains plasma and platelets, which assist in the healing of wounds and damaged tissues. A small amount of your own blood is drawn from your arm and placed in a spinner designed exclusively for PRP Therapy. The blood is quickly spun to separate the red blood cells, platelets, and plasma which has naturally occurring growth factors. After being separated, the ‘platelet-rich plasma’ is reintroduced into the desired treatment area, where it induces the formation of growth factors that stimulate cell fibroblasts to produce more collagen, elastin, and other key proteins and substances that aid in the rejuvenation of problematic areas. Even after the procedure, ongoing collagen production brightens, rejuvenates, and hydrates the skin.
